Breathwork
Breathwork is a relatively new term used to describe various breathing exercises in order to influence our physiological, psychological, and emotional states. It’s simply working on your breath – the way you breathe. This can be done anywhere, or anytime. Breathwork encompasses breath awareness, breath control, breath training, breath practice, and advanced breathing exercises. Think of breathwork as a simple way to control your mind, body, and emotions. By changing the way you breathe you directly impact your state of being.
Breathing
Breathing has a bidirectional relationship, your mood affects your breathing and your breathing affects your mood. Also, structurally, your ribs are shaped by your breathing and your breathing shapes your ribs. By changing your breathing mechanics, rate, volume, and inflow, you can directly impact your physiology, which in turn influences your psychology.
Anxiety, depression and fatigue
If you are experiencing anxiety, depression, and fatigue, with proper breathwork coaching, you can shift to a more positive state that can be achieved quickly and effectively. For example, if you have a presentation to give or have an important match, breathing is the key that can be used immediately to provide focus, clarity, and endurance. The biggest misconception sports coaches have is that breathing is something that can’t be trained or influenced. However, if you’re an athlete looking for an edge, do not overlook breathwork as a tool to be used, pre-match, during the match, or post-match. Although breathwork can be helpful to the general public, its benefits are especially valuable to athletes as it can provide a decisive advantage, in a setting where every detail of high-level competition matters.
